Podere Brizio Brunello di Montalcino 2001

Went to dinner the other night, and the owner knows how much I enjoy a great bottle of wine.  He brought over this bottle for us.

Producer- Podere Brizio

Region- Tuscany

Sub Region- Montalcino

Grape Varietal– Sangiovese, used to produce Chianti and other Tuscan reds.

The aroma was delightful with soft red fruits and floral notes.

On the palate it is medium bodied with cherry, prune,  vanilla, dry, elegant in style, very easy to drink, showing well now. Really enjoyed this nice bottle as it paired well with a pasta dish, a steak and even Corvina fish, without overpowering.

Brunello’s are so refreshing and paired so easily with all types of dishes. They typically age well.  This bottle was probably at its prime now, not sure I would cellar it any longer.

If you like Chianti or Super Tuscan, you are sure to enjoy a Brunello.  Very enjoyable!  WS 92 points

My rating **** Price $65-$75
